USA: Equal Employment Opportunity Commission inks settlement with Hillshire Brands over racial discrimination case

"EEOC wins record settlement for former Texas-based Sara Lee factory workers", 21 Dec 2015 Federal authorities are scheduled to announce Tuesday a record $4 million settlement for former Sara Lee factory workers based on allegations that the company’s Paris, Texas, plant subjected some of its black employees to a racially hostile work environment. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced in July that the agency had filed suit against Hillshire Brands Co. after finding that about 70 black workers were subjected to racially offensive graffiti and comments in the workplace…Sara Lee Corp. is part of Hillshire Brands LLC, a subsidiary of Tyson Foods and is among the world's largest food production companies…A spokesman for Springdale, Arkansas-based Tyson said the company doesn't tolerate the kind of discrimination found by the federal government.
