Business Coaching: Managing Your Social Impact - Advanced Training in Human Rights Due Diligence

Conducting human rights due diligence effectively promises opportunities for improving risk management, securing supply and customer relations and realising future business opportunities, as well as meeting expectations of stakeholders and investors. Meaningful engagement with potentially affected groups and other stakeholders is essential to identifying and addressing social and human rights risks and a distinguishing factor of advanced practice. Done well, it helps companies to improve their sustainability and business performance, find innovative solutions to business and social challenges, and operate more successfully as an employer, buyer and seller in emerging markets. How is stakeholder engagement in the context of due diligence different from existing approaches? Who are potentially affected by our operations and when and how do we consult with them? How can we improve our engagement with internal stakeholders to get their support in integrating respect for human rights into business processes and decision making? This training will equip participants and their companies with tools to advance their human rights program by engaging appropriately and meaningfully with different stakeholders throughout the human rights due diligence process. TARGET GROUP Managers leading or working on the implementation of their company’s commitment to respect human rights. OBJECTIVE AND CONTENT The training content is consistent with the UN Guiding Principles and introduces practical implementation tools and methods as well as concrete examples from businesses.Participants will: Get to know the key factors for successful stakeholder collaboration in the context of human rights due Diligence Design a stakeholder engagement strategy that can support the integration of due diligence in their Business Know how to identify and prioritize internal and external stakeholders Be able to assess risks and opportunities in the stakeholder engagement process and establish a management plan Build skills in monitoring the quality of stakeholder engagement in due diligence Identify opportunities to integrate HR due diligence into strategic business decisions and processes FORMAT AND METHOD Mix of inputs, exercises, and reflections on own practices Exchange and peer-learning with other practitioners Introduction and discussion of case studies as well as practical tools and methods Development of concrete implementation ideas for your own Company The course will be facilitated by experienced practitioners from twentyfifty ltd., combining years of expertise on practical implementation of business and human rights, organisational change and successful stakeholder engagement. The training content will be adapted to participants’ needs based on short needs assessments. Relevant publications by the trainers and course material is provided. REGISTRATION The number of participants is limited to 12. The participation fee is 450 EUR for Global Compact participants and 600 EUR for companies not participating in the UNGC (plus 19 % VAT). This includes lunch and refreshments, a training workbook and a copy of relevant publications accompanying the course. Travel and accommodation are not included. Fees are due upon registration.
